How we are run
Quality care and support lead to the highest quality of life for our residents, this is how we achieve it...
Tamar House is a ‘not for profit’ charity affiliated to The Abbeyfield Society. This organisation initially began by providing supported housing for single people who were finding it difficult to manage living independently. In recent years it has expanded and now provides additional 24 hour cover in residential, nursing and dementia homes.
Tamar House Residential Home is purpose built with 28 rooms and is totally independent financially from the Society as a whole. It is run by a board of volunteer trustees with a full time Care Manager, an Administrative Officer, a team of carers, catering staff, cleaners and a handyman. We are very fortunate to have a loyal team, many of whom have been with us for a long time. Their dedication and commitment to caring is second to none. Testament to this is the consistently positive feedback from our residents, their relatives and the government inspectorate, the Care Quality Commission.
